------------------

In recent years, sex education project has always been being planned and argued by many members of Vietnam Congress. Some people consider that Sex science and education should be fostered to be a subject taught in lower-level school, while the rest votes for the contrary. If the project is brought out to collect suggestions from national people, I will set 1 point for the right side.

As you have already known, Vietnam, in annual report from United Nation and WHO, is declared to be one of the countries that has the highest abortion rate in the world. The infection rate with HIV as well as any other diseases, which are infected via sex intercourse, is on the top of the world. The report showed that it mainly focuses on people from 20 to 25, but tends to occur commonly in teenagers and youths. One reason could explain for this state is that Vietnamese people lack of knowledge and information about sex. In class, just some initial theories about sex have been taught in middleschool and high school like: what is the difference between a man and a woman, the procedure inside men and women…. That’s just an academic thinking, that’s all nonsense. We need something that is truly helpful for us. In class, teachers themselves feel shy while teaching this knowledge to students and pupils. Parents prohibit their children to ask questions about sex. Those means of communication wouldn’t post any lines of sex knowledge to readers because they think that “we have our custom, we should… should…“ how can we learn and get knowledge about sex, as well as the way to protect ourselves from diseases in this way, in this society with all out-dated thinking of the obsolete generation?

Moreover, as the flow of Western and Europe cultures to Asia countries keeps going, people nowadays feel opened about sex and having sex. Hence, the ratio of having sex intercourse before getting married is increasing severely days after days, inspire of those attentions from newspapers and community. Without knowledge of sex, how can they protect themselves while coping with those kinds of temptation? Thus, the high rate of abortion is then easy to understand. The more we appreciate some of our out-fashioned custom, and think that it’s not necessary to impulse sex education in class, the more those troubles persist and increase steadily. Many people cling to the belief that it would loosely show them how to practice it in real life if sex science is impulsed to be taught in class. But it’s better to show it to them than to hide it away and let them discover themselves. In US and other foreign countries, sex education is enforced to be one subject in middle school, like Physics and Maths as well. Students and teachers feel free to talk about it in class along with in community. Then after those classes, they feel themselves more confident about sex knowledge as well as some per control methods, even the rate of having sex before getting married redundancy is high, but on the contrary, the rate of infection by some dangerous diseases as well as the rate of abortion is fairly low. Then you yourself can evaluate which solution is the best for your community.

Consequently, sex nowadays is no longer a sensitive or tough field to talk and to discuss in community. All the members of national Congress should think of it carefully, and come up with the best decision for their teenagers and youths. We should leave some of our out-dated custom and tradition behind, and think in an opened-way to contribute for the new, healthy and prosperous generation.
