It's the first time I've got the Valentine gift, from the person who has also first time ever given Valentine gift to the other .
Thanks a lot dear, thanks for thinking about it for so long . You did brighten up my day, eventhough I don't even care about the fact that there is such an occasion in a year .
It's more than enough for a special day .
Love,
Kiha.

February 12 2009 - TA

These awkward lines were written in those very first minutes of being a TA.

By chances I was selected to be the TA of Computer Graphics for this semester, and just now I have to stand in front of the class, face with more than 40 students around 4 hours a week, during 16 weeks in total. (Don’t ask me about the income…. He he he.. I will never tell :-“)

Many times I stood firmly in front of the crowd and spoke or presented something. But today… is teaching :-o.

And it’s just….. weird :), the feeling I have got just now is weird.

I remember clearly last year, I was so pissed off with this subject, I also told Huiyan that I couldn’t stand the Computer Graphics, and I entitled myself to feel hatred those who work for, or belong to Computer Graphics (of course, including her.. he he he). Thanks God I did survive after 16 weeks of being tattered by this subject, together with its pile of assignments, labs and exercises…

And now…. I’m standing here :|. Who knows?

That is to say, God will give you what you hate…. Ha ha ha.

Simply put, if you hate something, just keep it inside your mind, and tell everyone that you detest it, then you will get it at the result ;) (Else don’t find me to blame if the aftermath just happens to you.. he he)

Exhausted.

"Human beings get used to using right hand rather than using the left one on any activity.
They hold stuffs with their right hands...
They write or draw with their right hands...
They even use the right hand to hold the jobstick when they eat...
Right hand tends to work really hard on contributing to the whole activities of human, while the left hand is apparently more comfortable and relax...
But...
Never have I heard any complaint from the right hand to human beings about the seem-to-be-useless left hand...
Never have I felt any humility inside the left hand, when people tend to appreciate right hand with important functions...
Because they both proudly know that they always play a crucial part in any of human activities, no matter how more or less their responsibilities are...
Simply see that in order to hit the nail into the wall, you apparently hold the hammer with your right hand, and the nail on the other hand... Without one, can you come up with your target?!?!
When you suddenly hit any of your left finger with the hammer, guess what right hand will do! It will immediately drop the hammer, and rub the left hand gently and share the pain together with it."
[paraphrased the unknown allegory]

Right hand and left hand...

While the right hand and the left hand can live in good harmony with each other like that, why don't human beings act the same? Why do they have to struggle with one another for power, or those trivial materials, along with their own ordinary sakes?
Things turned out to be reversed with the happy family since parents died. Guys and gals struggled one another for the sake of inheriting the house of their parents.. They seemed to behave as if they were strangers and had no blood relationship with the other...
Manager in companies stole their people' attainment for the sake of their rewards and fame, even people deceptively tricked their close colleagues to gain points for the higher promotion...
Human beings... including me...

Are we that good? Why do we treat one another like that?
Or is it the way human beings do, to exist and survive on this severe life???

The shortcut to Happiness
The concluding part of Stone's novel, also the conclusion of the movie: "Remember son, there is no shortcut to happiness" eventually indicates what is the true happiness to human beings.

Jabez Stone, the talentless and useless writer, has almost no renown on his career. That is to say, misery always attach to the miserable, when he loses his job, together with his gal on the day his very close friend, Julius, gets attainment on his novel "Feeling loss". Coming back home with sadness and sorrow, he throws his typing machine out of the window, and indeliberately kills a pedestrian. While everything can't be worse, and it seems like the sky collapses upon him, the strangle gal (turns out to be the devil) from no where suddenly appears, saves him out of the swamp, and is willing to bring whatever he wants, just with the contract of taking his immortal life after 10 years.

His immotal life???

Being pushed into the corner with no way out, and under the supercilious beam of faith, he accepts the deal to exchange his so-called success, respect from other, money and sex.
Then... after one standing night (so-called contract sign) with the devil, his life immediately reverses from the dim shadow to the blade of glory. Success seems to flush into him with the book deal with well-known publisher, respect from everybody he sees on the street, and love as well as sex gained from ladies.

Bathing and soaking in fame just happen continuously on and on...
"One must fail for the sake of the other". The devil takes the work of his friend Julius "Feeling loss" together with Julius's life, and makes it become his best-seller ever book of the year "The loss of feeling", the one that brings him to the top of the world and a lot of rewards.
Bathing and soaking in fame just happen continuously on and on...

The deadline of the contract hasn't come yet, and he constantly finds out that the more fame and respect from the others he gets, the more he loses his friendship, respect and trust from people around him. Just 5 minutes with his closest friend, he doesn't even have. Loneliness and sorrow shadow him when it is also the last time he has a chance to see his friend. That guy is died because of the severe disease.

What is so-called happiness, while he doesn't have even a moment with his closest friend Mike from the childhood?

He wanna withdraw, he wanna take back the contract with the devil, he's upset, he regrets... He cries while holding the reward of his best-seller novel "The loss of feelings" on his hand.

"Remember son, there is no shortcut to happiness"

This emotional film has planted successfully a seed of thinking inside our mind. Our hard work and effort themselves determine our future, our success. There is no easy way that leads to the happiness. And the happiness itself inside our soul is far more important than those ordinary materials and fame

Guys, it is not a lousy counsel...
"Do not wish to be anything but what you are, and try to be that perfectly"
"Do all the good you can, to all the people you can, in all the ways you can, as often as you can"

So that when you grows old, you wun regret the past, you wun regret what you have lost.

Treasuring all moments to all people that you have.... And remember, there is no shorcut to Happiness

“What can be foreseen about the world deflation?”

That is to say, minor deflation today can lead us to the major depression tomorrow.

Days after days, you watch TV, read newspaper, surf internet, or simply have some chat with friends, you can easily hear about the worldwide steep into recession. Jobs loss, mill closed termlessly, companies bankrupted… Thousands billion dollars from stimulus packages are imposed in many cradles of economic recession still lead the world shadow to no where. Even the optimists can not guarantee whether the recession will end. Thus, the current circumstance still promises the tough upcoming fiscal year with no way out.

It’s usual for the price increase to slow during the recession, that is to say “disinflation”. But inflation is really considered the national nuclear abolishment. And from them, significant risks raised will persist and decline the worldwide economy extremely and severely.

Many people are so pleased to see that today, the price of every product is reduced due to the steep economy, sothat it will help to impose consumers to buy goods, or spend their money on servies, so on and so far. Yet the economist can’t beam with it. They worry that price reduction can give the cascading effect that brings the economy to an end. Let’s say, why do we have to buy this product today, while tomorrow we can have it with much less price? The lack of need leads the manufactures to cut the price more. Hence, vigorous reduction brings no profit to the manufactures, or simply the investors to the company. Simply put, the economic investment will no longer appeal the investor, for the reason it can’t even help to recoup their investment.

It is really a dangling cycle with no way out!

Your cost of living will be declined for sure. With the same amount of money, you can buy more stuffs today than you did yesterday. It is a clear indication to show that “A dollar today is more precious than it is yesterday”. On the contrary, your living standard will follow the cost of living footsteps to slow down too.

Why?

Let’s imagine whether the companies suffer from the losses of the benefits, and gain unprofitable sales will dare to lay off more workers, raise salaries, or simply maintain your income? Many people will consequently be fired from their jobs, or be slumped their imcome even if they hold their positions. It could lead to put more weight on people shoulders, especially ones who bought houses and cars by instalments, or own a huge loan from others. It doesn’t count that the real size of the dept increases, just for a reason that money becomes more valuable.

Above all, we do want the “Stimulus packages” from many countries can prove its good effect, sothat the current deflation will be abolished soon, before it’s too late. We don’t expect to see another world depression in such a case like this.

Especially to me and my friends, when we have just only one year left before graduating ^_^.

“The nail that sticks out gets hit on the head”

In making furniture, when there is any nail that sticks out the flat surface, the carpenter will hit it with a harmer, sothat the nail will be at the same height with the other, and the surface becomes smoother. That is such a good work.

But...

Is it always good to hit whatever sticks out?

In life today, especially at work, people rarely dare to show off their talents, just for the reason that there are always some harmers around who gaze at them, and “willing” to ‘beat” those sticked out nails for the personal sake of themselves. Whenever there is one genious idea given out, those “hammers” just keep thinking whether that idea will help that guy standing out of the company, and thus their position will be shaken with that?

Many youths today are afraid of working in Vietnam companies, especially those which are affected much by Vietnam bureaucratic working culture, just for the reason that their contribution will not be well evaluated by so-called managers. All those, who lack talent and capacity, are mostly promoted via relationship with the root of the company (as Vnese people said: Con ông cháu cha), consider their own sakes rather than take care of the company profits, then how come they can evaluate exactly the income of what they have, and how they can help to impose the development of Vietnam in the near future?

Ewwwwwwww…

What we have seen on newspaper nowadays is that people blame on those people who went to foreign countries to adapt new working environment, technology and refused to turn back to contribute for their country. Some other people also cite what Chinese people say ”I am rather a maid in China than a manager in foreign country” to blame on what conscience that Vietnamese youths do not have...

Guys…

Will you rather choose to turn back to the country and devoting all their life with the income of nearly 100$ per month after studying more than 10 years, getting the PhD degree, or to stay in the place that is willing to use yourself at an important function, and get the salary of 10000$ per month? Everything has its bright side and dark side, we have our right to blame, but first we have to blame ourselves for having no policy to treat our genie well.

To tell the truth, unless the government changes the policy, I prefer getting out of the country to work. The place where I am appriciated when I dare to stick out to show my idea, no matter what right or wrong I am, no matter stupid or lousy the idea is, without any fear of being hit on the head somedays.

I am crazy ^^.

February 5 2009

Back to HCMC.

The 23 days of vacation, seemed to be everlasting, just officially ended today. Regret inside...

Last year, nothing changed that much to me. Still hovered about studying, social activities and minor work that's not much to be noted.

My study still kept up it good pace.

Had a chance to travel overseas one more time: Cambodia, for the Cambodia-Vietnam Dialog 4 program, which was held in PhnongPenh. Thanks FIC Vietnam that selected me.

Took part in voluntary job at the culture forum of VNU, and had a chance to know seem-to-be-the-best-and-closest-friend-ever Huiyan from Singapore. Thanks God, what happened if I decided to go to Indonesia that time, then I wouldn't have a chance to get this sweet relationship with a friend, who is about more than 2000km away ^^. Close knit forever, my dear!!!

Missed a chance to do the internship at Switzerland... for the reason that I didn't have much time to ask for sponsorship :( :( :(. Too bad.

Missed a chance to come back to Cambodia again.

Toefl target hasn't been fulfilled yet.

Contributed stock to establish our very first business deal. Eventhough it hasn't run smoothly as we expected, but I've learned a lot from many things I have such a chance to face with. Happy with this, at least it's my favor.

Still hesitated choosing for the future. I have been at this fork for so long, how to wrap it up with the right decision for myself, for my future??? Which one is good for me? Which one is good for my family? Which one is good for my warm corner in the future? Haizzz, still dangling around. And the utmost importance: which one is the real me???

----------- Year 2008 has closed--------------------

----------- Year 2009 has opened-------------------

Can't hide anymore, guy. This year is my last year in university already. Can't be like last years, when I could hover around, do some nonsense stuffs... anymore. This year seems to be the toughest year for me, man, with a lot of targets and wishes have been set. Have to strive hard, harder, and the hardest to get them done, as I and my family, together with ppl around me have expected.

Can I get them?

[..................]

Hope to see myself again, with the brighter wrapped-up blog entry. I'm about to hide now.
